The suburban regions of District 19 have been steadily gaining in popularity among home-buyers, especially among growing families. It isn’t such a wonder since families mostly prefer spacious, landed homes within a clean, quiet environment , and there are a lot of that in those parts. There have also been a lot of new commercial developments and establishments lately, catering to the increasing population of residents. These days, living there is almost like living in the city, but without all the city clutter. There are also a lot of exciting things to look forward to, as some great development plans are lined up for Punggol, Sengkang, and Serangoon.

Also in District 19 is Hougang, which is part of Singapore’s heartland, and certainly a good place for families to consider. Apart from being an established residential town with lots of landed cluster housing developments, it presents a lot of nearby schools, churches, supermarkets, parks and other facilities. It’s quite accessible as well, as it is bordered by major roads such as Upper Serangoon Road, Boundary Road, Hougang Avenue 2 and Yio Chu Kang Road, and near Tampines Road, Upper Paya Lebar Road, the Central Expressway and Kallang Paya Lebar Expressway.

At number 5 Hillside Drive in Hougang is a cluster housing development worth considering: Hillsgrove is a 999-year leasehold by Sun Fong Realty Pte. Ltd, with 12 semi-detached houses with a de stijl-inspired architectural design. Each unit has three floors, in addition to which are a basement level, where the parking garage is located, and an attic level. The floor area comes up to 1,820 sq ft – a generous space for a family with children. Full-length windows and sliding glass doors permit a good amount of light into each home, while providing the residents with a view of the lap pool at the middle of the development. The development also comes with a children’s play pool, a sun deck, and 24-hour security.

The site is very near to the Kovan MRT Station (North-East) and the Serangoon Station (Circle and North-East). Whenever you prefer to take the bus, there are eleven bus stops within walking distance, along Yio Chu Kang, Boundary, and Upper Serangoon Roads. It will also be easy for you to catch a cab at the nearby taxi stand.
